Who Wins The Match ("we", "our", "us") operates whowinsthematch.com. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We collect as little data as possible.
1. Who We Are

2. What Data We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Email address — collected only if you purchase access. Used solely to issue your access token and send your unlock link. We do not use your email for marketing.
- Payment data — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies: stripe.com/privacy
- Access token — a unique token stored in your browser's localStorage after purchase. This is not a cookie. It contains no personal information beyond a reference to your email.
- Usage data — Netlify, our hosting provider, may collect standard server logs including IP addresses and browser information. We do not use this data to identify individuals.
3. What We Do Not Collect
- We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels
- We do not use Google Analytics or similar tracking tools
- We do not sell your data to any third party
- We do not create user profiles or behavioural profiles
- We do not send marketing emails
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your email address on the basis of contract performance — it is necessary to deliver the service you paid for. You provide explicit consent before purchase via the checkout consent checkbox.
5. Data Retention
Your email address is retained for the duration of the tournament (until July 19, 2026) and deleted within 30 days after that date. Payment records are retained by Stripe according to their own retention policies for legal and accounting purposes.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:
- Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Right to erasure — request deletion of your data
- Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to restrict processing — request we limit how we use your data
- Right to data portability — request your data in a portable format
- Right to object — object to processing of your data

7. Third Party Services
- Stripe — payment processing. Privacy policy
- o2switch — hosting and infrastructure (servers located in France). Legal notices
- Anthropic — AI prediction generation. Prediction requests contain only anonymised team data, no personal information. Privacy policy
- BBC Sport RSS — news feed. We fetch publicly available RSS headlines. No personal data is shared with BBC.
8. Local Storage
We use browser localStorage (not cookies) to store your free prediction count and access token. This data is stored only on your device. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data. We do not transmit localStorage data to any server except when verifying your access token.
9. Children
This service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
